Career
Minister Neale Richmond began his career working for Gay Mitchell in the European Parliament. In 2009, he was elected to Dún-Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in the Glencullen-Sandyford local electoral area, to which he was re-elected in 2014 and served as a Councillor until 2016. In 2014, he was also appointed by the Taoiseach as one of Ireland’s nine delegates to the European Committee of the Regions.
From 2011 to 2016, Minister Richmond served as a Parliamentary Assistant to Olivia Mitchell, and in the 2016 General Election, was backed to run in her place for the Dublin Rathdown constituency.
From 2016 to 2020, he served as a Senator for the Labour Panel and was the Fine Gael Spokesperson on European Affairs with a strong focus on Brexit and supply chains. He was elected to the Dail f in the 2020 General Election for the Dublin Rathdown constituency.
In 2023, he was appointed as Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and Minister of State at the Department of Social Protection. In 2024, he was appointed to his current role as Minister of State at the Department of Finance.
External Activities
• While studying in UCD, Minister Richmond was chair of the UCD branch of Young Fine Gael.
• He was previously a project manager for European Movement Ireland.
