Speaker Announcement: Orla McGovern AIB

Orla McGovern, Head of Strategy & Proposition, Retail SME will be joining our panel at the Sandyford Business District Innovation Summit next week

Orla McGovern is Head of Strategy, Proposition and Transformation for Retail SME, AIB Bank, Republic of Ireland. She was appointed into this role in June 2019 having previously managed AIBs Card Issuing Business where she had responsibility for the management and strategic development of all card issuance activities for Retail banking in both the Republic of Ireland and UK Divisions.

She has a wealth of experience operating in an innovative, technologically based, and competitive environment and is currently involved in several key strategic initiatives to transform, simplify, and digitise our SME processes, migrating to a new loan origination platform and building out our digital capability. She also works in collaboration with the SBCI to provide solutions for our business customers including Ukraine Credit Guarantee and the Growth & Sustainability Loan schemes.

Orla joined Ark Life Assurance (a wholly owned subsidiary of AIB Group) in 1999 and took up a role in AIB’s Operations & Technology Division in 2006.

She joined the Card Issuing business in 2010 where she has had responsibility for driving the overall performance of the Credit risk function (including debt recovery, collections, and provisioning), managing of outsourced/insourced services including card processing, customer support, card production and distribution etc. She has been to the forefront in delivering a range of new capabilities in the card payments arena embracing new payments solutions and new forms of electronic payments as well as large scale regulatory projects including PSD2.

She is a graduate of University College of Dublin with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) & a Masters of Business Studies (HRM). She also has a Diploma in Business & Executive Coaching. She was a non-Executive Director of Visa UK Limited from 2013 to 2017, was the Chairperson of the Visa Ireland Client Council for the 2-year period February 17- 19 and is an active member of a range of industry fora and working groups.
