“Amuigh Faoin Spéir” Nationwide Fund launched in Naomh Ólaf GAA Club

Last Thursday Minister Catherine Martin, T.D. officially launched the new nationwide “Amuigh Faoin Spéir” fund in Naomh Ólaf GAA Club here in the District.

The fund aims to boost biodiversity on public land with outdoor sports facilities. Funding of up to €25,000 is available to every Local Sports Partnership to support nature connected projects at sports facilities that are open to community use. There will be a specific focus on supporting the biodiversity surrounding publicly accessible outdoor sports facilities.

Sandyford Business District and Naomh Olaf GAA Club together have already initiated a number of biodiversity projects in the District including biodiversity pollinator-friendly planting, safe nesting sites for bees and other insects along with the installation of a pocket forest with over 480 native trees.
